Family Office Controller

A multi-generational, family office overseeing a complex portfolio of alternative investments spanning venture capital, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and private credit is looking for a strong controller. Key Responsibilities Own the general ledger and month-end close process, establishing a reliable, auditable financial close Serve as a lead partner to the CFO in implementing the FundCount partnership accounting system, replacing the current Sage/QuickBooks environment Lead reconciliation efforts between financial reporting tools and internal accounting records Manage day-to-day internal partnership accounting for the family's investment vehicles, including management fees, carry, distributions, and operating expenses Prepare consolidated balance sheets and P&L statements across multiple entities with differing ownership percentages and allocations across three family households Support fund audits and serve as primary point of contact for documentation requests from third-party fund administrators and auditors Enable accurate cash flow forecasting and recommitment tracking across an illiquid portfolio of alternative investments Design entity structure logic, GL code mapping, and rollup/consolidation frameworks to support master-level reporting Manage, mentor, and develop a team of two: an Accounts Payable Analyst and a Staff Accountant Candidate Profile & Qualifications Background in alternative investment accounting (hedge fund, private equity, or venture capital) required Deep, hands-on understanding of partnership accounting and general ledger structures specific to alternative investment vehicles Demonstrated experience building or implementing financial systems and controls, including GL design, code mapping, and entity consolidation logic Direct experience with FundCount or a comparable alternative investment/partnership accounting platform is a plus, not required Foundation in public accounting preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr StevenDouglas
