Job Title Maintenance Technician II Job Location Memphis, TN Position Type Hourly Pay Starting Payrate: $34.95 per hour. Shift differential: $1.00 per hour. Overtime potential. Manufacturing Incentive Plan (MIP) eligible. Shifts Flexible to work any shift, weekends, overtime, and holidays. Schedule assignments upon hire are determined by plant needs. Regular schedule: 8-hour shifts; mandatory overtime may include up to 12 hours/day, 4 additional hours on the 8-hour shift, and 8-12 hour shifts on weekends. Post‑offer drug screen, physical assessment, and background check required. Summary The Memphis Plant of The Hershey Company has immediate openings for Industrial Maintenance Technician II to work in our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility. Maintenance technicians are skilled in electrical and mechanical and utility maintenance, maintaining and optimizing manufacturing equipment and systems. Electrical Responsibilities Understand principles of basic electricity and electronics. Understand National Electrical Code and NFPA 70‑E. Understand occupation‑specific safety standards and procedures. Plan layout of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures per specifications and local codes. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduits. Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, outlets, relays, and circuit‑breaker panels. Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, lighting fixtures, thermostats, intercoms, signaling systems, power equipment, or other components. Check circuit connections for electrical compatibility and safety of components. Diagnose and repair or replace malfunctioning apparatus and components such as transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, motors, generators, and fixtures. Mechanical Responsibilities Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; follow diagrams, sketches, manuals, and engineering specifications; troubleshoot malfunctions. Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitor compliance. Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories; check stock levels, anticipate needed equipment, parts, and supplies; place and expedite orders; verify receipt. Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Minimum Qualifications At least 18 years of age. Available to work 2nd (2 pm–10 pm) or 3rd (10 pm–6 am) shifts. Must be available for weekends, holidays, and overtime. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Possess a journeyman's card from a state‑approved apprenticeship program or 5–7 years of hands‑on electrical and mechanical work in manufacturing systems maintenance, including experience as a qualified machine repair person, toolmaker, or machine‑tool builder in troubleshooting, machine repair, tool making, machine building, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems. Must achieve a passing score on a written Mechanical NOCTI exam. Basic understanding of PCs and basic computer skills. Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, process control & instrumentation, motors and controls (AC and DC), analog and digital devices, schematics and electrical print reading, power supplies, electrical maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic systems operational theory, troubleshooting, and repair, lubrication, mechanical drive systems, pump systems, HVAC systems, and steam boiler operation and performance. Preferred Qualifications Food manufacturing experience. Experience with Safe Quality Food (SQF) practices. Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). Experience with Autonomous Maintenance (AM). Experience with Single‑Minute Exchange of Die (SMED). Experience with Continuous Improvement methodology.
