Field Engineer

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Engineer to join our Commercial Division in North Port, FL . This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level construction professional to gain hands-on experience in community-focused commercial projects , including schools, fire stations, municipal buildings, and other public facilities .

The Field Engineer will work closely with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to learn the fundamentals of project coordination, layout, and field management. This role provides a strong foundation for a long-term career in project management or field supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent and Foreman with layout, measurement, and field engineering tasks.
• Support daily project operations, including scheduling updates, document tracking, and field communication.
• Help prepare and process Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals.
• Maintain As-Built drawings, progress logs, and photo documentation.
• Participate in site inspections, safety meetings, and quality control reviews.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate material deliveries and installation tracking.
• Gain exposure to estimating, scheduling, and project documentation systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply).
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; exposure to scheduling or project management software a plus.
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow within a collaborative construction environment.
