OVERVIEW

The Technical Integration Engineer is a senior, client-facing, engineering role at the intersection of deep technical expertise, systems architecture, and strategic partnership leadership. This position is the primary technical owner of all broadcast and syndication technical partner ecosystems at Orb, responsible for driving integration quality, partner accountability, and long-term client technical success.

A core responsibility of this role is owning and leading large-scale change initiatives and improvements to client technical system design, infrastructure architecture, and end-to-end solutions. This means actively identifying where client technology environments need to evolve, architecting better solutions, and driving those initiatives through to completion, ensuring every client meets its technical objectives and that Orb’s integration footprint is continuously improving.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role. There is no team to delegate to. The right person for this position doesn’t need one, they are the expert in the room, and they prove it by doing the work themselves. That means getting into the logs, building the documentation, running the troubleshooting session, writing the SOP, and executing the integration, not directing others to do it. This person leads by example in the truest sense: they set the standard for how technical work should be done at Orb by demonstrating it every day.

The two critical early priorities for this role include 1) assuming the role of our internal Ateme and LTN subject matter expert, capable of digging into technical challenges and resolving them promptly with our clients and partners; and 2) closing significant knowledge gaps that currently exist within the organization. Tribal knowledge, undocumented processes, and siloed technical expertise are real challenges. This engineer will be expected to surface, capture, and institutionalize that knowledge, building a documented foundation of standards, procedures, and runbooks that the broader team can rely on and that reduce dependency on any single individual.

While this role maintains the depth to step in as elevated backup coverage for platform support and troubleshooting support tickets when needed, particularly during critical incidents or periods of reduced capacity, the core mission is proactive: engineering better systems, leading integrations, holding partners accountable, and serving as the authoritative technical voice clients and our clients partners can rely on.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Client & Partner Ownership

• Serve as the primary technical owner of all broadcast and syndication client and partner relationships (Ateme, LTN, etc), from onboarding through day-to-day operations, technical troubleshooting, and long-term success.

• Hold technical partners accountable to SLAs, integration standards, and quality benchmarks; lead regular performance reviews and drive remediation when things fall short.

• Host and lead client-facing meetings, technical deep-dives, executive business reviews, and incident post-mortems, presenting confidently to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders.

• Act as the internal voice of the client, translating field realities into actionable feedback for engineering, product, and operations teams.

Hands-On Technical Execution

• Execute directly and personally, there is no team to hand work off to. When something needs to be built, diagnosed, integrated, or fixed, this engineer does it.

• Troubleshoot complex issues across the broadcast and syndication stack, video ingest, encoding, distribution, IP networking, and cloud delivery, using logs, metrics, and configuration analysis to drive resolution.

• Step in as elevated backup coverage during critical incidents or when technical partner capacity is reduced, leading resolution and post-incident review.

• Set the standard for how technical work is done at Orb: thorough, documented, and repeatable. Others on the team should look at how this engineer operates and know that’s the bar.

• Fulfil the role as the subject matter expert for Ateme, LTN, and other technology partners.

Systems Design & Change Leadership

• Lead large-scale technical change initiatives, assessing client infrastructure, identifying architectural gaps, designing better solutions, and driving implementation through to completion.

• Own the technical discovery, scoping, and design phases of major client programs, translating business objectives into integration and infrastructure specifications.

• Ensure every client is measurably meeting its technical objectives, tracking performance, identifying drift, and driving corrective action proactively.

• Bridge field experience and internal product direction, bringing real integration challenges back to engineering and influencing platform improvements.

Knowledge, Standards & Documentation

• Identify and close knowledge gaps aggressively, surfacing undocumented processes, tribal knowledge, and siloed expertise and converting them into structured, accessible documentation that the whole organization can rely on.

• Build from scratch and own a comprehensive library of SOPs, runbooks, integration guides, escalation procedures, and technical standards for broadcast and syndication operations and integrations.

• Ensure no critical process or configuration lives only in someone’s head and create frameworks that reduce single points of failure and allow others to operate more independently over time.

• Design and deliver training programs for clients, partners, and internal teammates; facilitate hands-on onboarding for new integrations and build targeted enablement plans where skill gaps exist.

• Other optimization and improvement projects across the support team may be needed during times of low partner integration demands and changes.

WHAT YOU NEED 

• To be considered candidates must be located in San Diego, CA, or within commuting distance.

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in a senior broadcast engineering or client-facing technical role (Solutions Engineer, Integration Engineer, Broadcast Systems Engineer, or similar)

• Deep, proven expertise with Ateme products and technology. This is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have.

• Strong working knowledge of broadcast and syndication workflows: video ingest, encoding/transcoding, signal flow, distribution architectures, and delivery.

• Proficiency in IP networking: routing, VLANs, multicast, IP addressing, and firewall fundamentals, plus hands-on Linux experience including CLI, log analysis, and basic scripting.

• A track record of building technical documentation, SOPs, and standards from the ground up, especially in environments where institutional knowledge was lacking or siloed.

• Experience leading client meetings, presenting to executive and engineering audiences, managing escalations, and owning complex partner relationships.

• Ability to evaluate and design infrastructure architectures, including end-to-end signal flow, system integration points, and network design in broadcast environments.

• Physical capability to work with broadcast hardware in data center and on-site environments, including racking and re-racking servers, lifting equipment, and hands-on troubleshooting of physical infrastructure.

• Familiarity with cloud-based media platforms, CDN architectures, and streaming protocols (HLS, RTMP, SRT, etc.).

• Experience with broadcast automation systems, MAM/DAM platforms, or video server environments.

Compensation: $100,000 - $150,000 annual, dependent on experience and level of technical expertise
