Finishing Technician

The Finishing Technician performs precision finishing and inspection of small metal components using a variety of specialized tools and equipment. This role focuses on deburring, polishing, washing, tumbling, bead blasting, honing, assembling, and inspecting parts to ensure they meet strict quality standards. The technician consistently applies fine motor skills and uses microscopes and inspection instruments to verify that parts are free of burrs and conform to specifications, while actively supporting a strong safety culture in the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Use inspection equipment accurately and competently to verify part quality, including micrometers, air gauging, optical comparators, refractometers, calipers, go/no-go gauges, thread gauges, and plug/pin gauges.
• Follow established processes to polish, wash, tumble, bead blast, hone, assemble, and deburr parts as required by job specifications.
• Perform consistent deburring and finishing operations to ensure all parts are free of burrs and meet quality standards.
• Conduct regular inspection of small parts, ideally metal components, using microscopes and other precision measurement tools.
• Recognize burrs and other defects on components and remove them using appropriate hand tools and finishing techniques.
• Apply fine motor manipulation skills to handle and process small, detailed parts with precision and care.
• Support and uphold the organization's health and safety culture by maintaining safety awareness in all tasks.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety and quality processes and take appropriate action to address potential issues before they become problems.
• Report potential hazards, unsafe working conditions, unsafe equipment, unsafe acts, and any injuries immediately to ensure a safe work environment.
• Work collaboratively with production and quality assurance teams to meet inspection and finishing requirements and maintain consistent product quality.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment related to machine trades, including exposure to secondary operations and assembly.
• Hands-on experience in finishing or second operations, such as deburring, polishing, tumbling, bead blasting, honing, and washing of parts.
• Proficiency in quality inspection practices, including the use of microscopes for detailed examination of small components.
• Ability to accurately use precision inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, air gauging, optical comparators, refractometers, go/no-go gauges, thread gauges, and plug/pin gauges.
• Demonstrated experience working with small parts, ideally metal parts, in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Strong fine motor skills and manual dexterity for manipulating and finishing small components.
• Knowledge of quality assurance principles and inspection procedures within a manufacturing environment.
• Commitment to health and safety practices, with the ability to recognize and respond to unsafe conditions and behaviors.

Work is performed around small metal parts, requiring careful handling and fine motor skills. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Monticello, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40000.00 - $62400.00/yr. Generous PTO: Start with 3 weeks of paid time off per year, with accrual starting on day one.
