AIRCRAFT MECHANIC

Duties
Serve as crew chief of assigned aircraft and be responsible for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing maintenance on aircraft that are non-fielded, prototype or preproduction, and/or extensively modified (Type 2) production aircraft that are dedicated to support research, development, test and evaluation, perform in-service testing of potential replacement items (form, fit, function), and for aircraft/stores compatibility testing.
Perform aircraft inspections including preflight, postflight, phase, and other scheduled and unscheduled inspections.
Diagnose and identify probable locations of malfunctions from the cockpit during engine run-up.
Initiate requests for unscheduled tools, equipment, and materials identified during preparation for flight.
Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
