Remote Senior Backend Software Developer - Java (Cambridge)

Atimi is seeking an experienced backend software developer to fill a position in Canada. This is a fully remote position with EST working hours, open to candidates from all provinces. As a senior backend developer, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable web and mobile services, working closely with clients, partners, and internal teams. Responsibilities Proactive collaboration in the project team to help develop the product using your experience to guide the team through the entire development lifecycle. Ensuring code quality and governance. Ensuring engineers follow any patterns/designs set out and agreed with project leads. Planning, estimating, and contributing to architecture, coding, and development. Refactoring and continuous improvement of the codebases. Communicating technical decisions and information thoroughly to the global team. Taking responsibility for releases and contributing to ongoing support of live apps. Participating in deployment and operation of the software (DevOps). Delivering fair outcomes for our customers, ensuring professionalism at all times. Basic Qualifications Strong Java development experience (8+ years). Experience with AWS cloud environment (6+ years). Experience with CI/CD pipelines. Experience building scalable software services (serverless, microservices). Strong OOD skills; knowledge of design principles, patterns, and best practices. Strong database modeling skills; experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Experience working directly with clients and other project stakeholders to define and refine requirements. Strong English skills (written and verbal). Preferred Qualifications Typescript experience. Python experience. Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD). Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD). Location: Must be located in Canada. Relocation support is not provided.
