Job Description
Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a meaningful role making a real difference in the lives of students with diverse needs for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time contract position calls for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to work in a self-contained classroom environment with both elementary and secondary students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and a separate caseload for those with cognitive impairments. Students' needs range from mild to severe, and many require highly specialized supports.
You’ll work directly with students in either elementary (two positions supporting self-contained ASD classrooms), or middle/high school (one position for self-contained ASD, and one for cognitive impairments). Classrooms serve individuals exhibiting a variety of behavioral and learning profiles, including significant disabilities. Supervision support staff such as paraprofessionals, RBTs, CNAs, or LPNs will not be provided, so confidence working independently in self-contained settings is crucial.
Qualifications:
- Current Special Education Teaching License required; no substitute certifications accepted
- For high school autism setting: Bachelor’s degree with valid special education endorsement in autism spectrum disorder or related field, and willingness to enroll in further coursework if needed
- Certification in Emotional Impairments or Autism Endorsement mandatory
- Experience working with students exhibiting a range of behavioral and cognitive profiles
- Strong commitment to student growth and inclusive education
- Flexibility for in person and virtual interviews
Responsibilities:
- Lead self-contained special education classrooms for assigned age group and disability category
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Foster a supportive, engaging, and safe learning environment for students with significant needs
- Collaborate with school staff and families to support student progress
- Manage challenging behaviors using evidence-based strategies
This position offers health, vision, dental, and 401k benefits. If you’re passionate about supporting students with significant disabilities and are ready to inspire, submit your application today for consideration. Your expertise and compassion could make all the difference!
