Founding Frontend Engineer (3D/graphics)

Pluton builds probabilistic 2D and 3D models that show exploration geologists what's likely underground, how sure we are, and where to drill next. Now we are looking for a ambitious front end engineer who is excited to bring this experience, as well as others moving forward, to life in the browser.

The role

You'll own the UI product experience end to end. In the immediate term our viewer runs on CesiumJS. Where it goes from here longer-term, especially the 3D engine, is your call. Things you may build:

• A 3D viewer for boreholes, geologic layers, and volumetric data that stays fast on an ordinary laptop.
• A compelling mapping application visualizing a wide variety of relevant geospatial and geologic data.
• Clear, honest visuals of uncertainty, recommended measurements, simulation results, and more.
• The user intake experience, and high impact internal tooling as necessary.

How we work

Nobody hands you tickets here. We are a tight nit team where a combination of async an sync communication creates mutually understood directions. We keep each other in the loop, constantly bounce ideas off each other, and work towards an evolving but shared vision.

If you want clear specs and a predictable 9-to-5, this isn't the fit. If you are excited about owning something real from day one, it is.

Who you are

• Have shipped real-time 3D in the browser (three.js, Babylon.js, WebGL or WebGPU, or similar).
• Enjoys learning and is open to understanding more of the relevant geologic concepts with time.
• Writes correct, maintainable code while using AI tools to move quickly.
• Values accuracy as much as beauty. Your software will guide expensive decisions.
• Looking to have a high agency role, where you will be trusted and empowered to build something cutting-edge.

Bonus: CesiumJS, geoscience, mining, GIS, scientific visualization, or shader work. A location overlapping with other founders (Los Angeles CA, Raleigh NC, San Jose CR).

Compensation + benefit (read before applying!)

Meaningful founding equity, % stipends from early revenues, conversion into a competitive salary with funding (2027).

Fully remote, willing to work at least some hours that overlap USA time zones.
