Lab Phlebotomist

Job Description SummaryThe Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing and collecting blood from patients and preparing the samples for testing. Verifies the patient's records, enters data into the system, and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Processes specimens and demonstrates proper handling of samples. Instructs patients on Coumadin and performs limited waived testing. Maintains sample integrity by identification and labeling (2 identifiers). Maintains work area, supplies, and cleanliness.How will you make an impact & RequirementsHours & Location:This position is PRN, working hours or shifts as needed!!No weekends or major holidays!Will cover locations in Charlotte countyResponsibilitiesPerforms painless venipuncture and capillary puncture for the Coumadin clinicIdentifies patient following protocol.Prepares samples for processing w/correct label and bar code and inspects vialsReconciles outstanding sample report at day’s end.Observe safety procedures and sample prep.Support and guide in day-to-day activities.Clean up old orders and combine orders in Copia, know which tests are duplicates and which are necessary for measures.Demonstrate excellent guest service to internal team members and patients.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsPhlebotomy certification or M.A. certification or certificate from a phlebotomy program.2+ years of experience in Lab.Understand labeling/ID protocol, and knowledge of common lab tests, sample types, and vacutainers.Understand Biohazard, OSHA safety regulations for medical offices, and Universal precautions.Knowledge of test requirements and how to search Quest/LabCorp for esoteric tests.Ability to interpret miscellaneous orderAbility to guide and observe new phlebotomistsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.Part Time/PRN Benefits:401(k) with matchEmployee WellnessOther Employee Discount programs like Tickets at Work and cell phone discountsWhy Millennium?Millennium Physician Group is one of the largest comprehensive primary care practices with healthcare providers throughout Florida.At Millennium Physician Group, you will find an organization that focuses on family and building a strong network of people to care for the communities we serve.
