ENTRY Phlebotomist I

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $12.75hr - $17.75hr

Requirement/Must Have:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Phlebotomy experience is required, including internship or externship experience to learn the basics.
Minimum of 1-2 years of client-facing customer service experience is required (e.g., Retail, Home Health Aide).
Keyboard and data entry experience is required.
Ability to handle patients with care and compassion while assisting with check-ins in the lobby through either a self-service kiosk or handheld tablet.
Willingness to work both in the lobby and in a draw room with patients to help with coverage for breaks.
Ability to perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
High level of customer service experience and skills are critical to this role.

Responsibilities:

Greet patients upon arrival and answer questions or concerns with care and compassion.
Maintain the integrity of the waiting area and assist with patient flow.
Assist with coverage for breaks when other staff members are unavailable.
Utilize phlebotomy skills to support the organization's clinical needs.
Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining scheduled procedures to patients in a safe and accurate manner.
Demonstrate excellence in customer care while focusing on process skills and sensitivity to confidentiality.
Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
Maintain a safe and professional environment.
Maintain required records and documentation.
Promote a positive image to patients, clients, and the public.
Assist patients with checking in at the kiosk and ensure they are comfortable while waiting for laboratory services.
Fill in for breaks and cover for staffing shortages as needed.
