Environmental Sr. SpecialistEnvironmental Sr. Specialist for the Environmental Health & Safety Team. Core business hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Direct report to EHS Director. Exempt; Full-time.About the position:We are looking for a Environmental Sr. Specialist to plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, procedures, activities, and staff of the Environmental Unit within the EHS Team. To effectively lead and support technical and behavioral compliance with all environmental related regulations and drive activities for a safe and environmentally sound workplace. To remain up to date with EHS related laws and regulations, communicate timely with the workforce and support modification of company documents and/or practices to ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state and local laws.Responsibilities are:Maintaining site's Environmental Management System to ensure adherence to ISO 14001Air Permitting & ComplianceManaging all air permits (Title V or Synthetic Minor) including permit applications, renewals, and modificationsCalculating emissions, PTE, and maintaining emission inventoriesConducting monthly/quarterly/annual compliance monitoring and record keepingStormwater ComplianceMaintaining SWPPP and ensuring BMP implementationConducting monthly, quarterly, and annual stormwater inspectionsPerforming benchmark sampling and submitting DMRsManaging corrective actions for exceedancesWastewater ComplianceManaging wastewater sampling, monitoring, and reportingEnsuring compliance with discharge limits and pretreatment requirementsMaintaining permits, logs, and corrective actionsCoordinating with municipal or state regulatorsWaste & Scrap HandlingManaging industrial waste, scrap, and recycling programsEnsuring proper labeling, storage, and accumulation area complianceCoordinating timely waste/scrap pickups to maintain clean operationsTraining employees on waste segregation and handlingConducting routine waste area inspectionsChemical ManagementMaintaining SDS library and chemical inventoryReviewing and approving new chemicalsEnsuring proper storage, labeling, and hazard communicationSupporting process safety and chemical compatibility reviewsSpill Prevention & ResponseMaintaining SPCC plan and conducting required inspectionsLeading spill response and root cause investigationsTraining employees on spill response proceduresEnsuring secondary containment and proper storage of oils/chemicalsPerform other duties as assigned by managementRequirements are:Education:(Required) bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or equivalent experience in environmental compliance, air permitting, stormwater/wastewater management, or hazardous materials management may be considered in lieu of degree specialization with a bachelor's degree in a related field(Preferred) certifications such as CPESC, RCRA, DOT Hazmat, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, CHMM, and SPCCExperience:(Required) 5+ years of relevant experience including ISO 14001 and experience with TDEC air, stormwater, and wastewater permits(Preferred) experience with hazardous waste and industrial waste management(Preferred) previous experience in the tire manufacturing industryLanguage:(Required) good command of written and spoken EnglishSkills & Knowledge:Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
