Position Summary The Kitchen Assistant is a vital part of our culinary team at The Fork, our on-the-farm Culinary Center at located in Point Reyes Station. Working alongside the Sous Chef and Executive Chef/Culinary Director, you’ll help support the day-to-day operations of a kitchen that celebrates exceptional food and the best of Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese. This is a seasonal role running through December, with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shifts. Essential Functions Performs food preparation as assigned and scheduled by the Sous Chef or Executive Chef/Culinary Director. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized workspace while upholding food safety standards at all times. Assists with the organization of all food storage areas to keep the kitchen running efficiently. Supports the rotation and management of existing food inventory to minimize waste. Works collaboratively across all kitchen tasks, lending a hand wherever it’s needed to keep the team moving forward. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Time Management - Ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently within shift hours. Work Environment This position operates in a professional kitchen and dining environment. The role includes regular exposure to heat, kitchen equipment, cleaning agents, and occasional outdoor conditions. The position requires focus, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and sanitation standards at all times. Physical Requirements This is a physically active position requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. The employee must be able to remain on their feet for extended periods and safely lift or move items weighing up to 40 pounds. Schedule This is a seasonal, part-time position running through December. Scheduled shifts are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, approximately 9AM - 4PM (dependent on prep needs). Schedules are subject to change with advance notice to accommodate special events and operational demands, which may include evenings.
