Title: Deputy Executive Director State Role Title: Prog Admin Manager III Hiring Range: $100,000-$125,000 commensurate with experience Pay Band: 6 Agency: Dept of Health Professions Location: Dept of Health Professions Agency Website: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Virginia Department of Health Profession's (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public. The Deputy Executive Director provides professional operational support to the Executive Director for the Boards of Nursing (BON) by managing and coordinating licensing, Nurse Licensure Compact programs, BON Customer Care/Administrative Operations, and assisting the Executive Director on matters related to board policy, management, and operations. Additionally, this position has responsibility for management of the Criminal Background Check Unit responsible for criminal background checks for the BON, the Board of Pharmacy (BOP) and the Board of Physical Therapy (BPT). Minimum Qualifications Extensive knowledge of the laws, regulations and procedures associated with the regulation of professional occupations and with State and Federal requirements related to criminal background checks (CBC). Effective analytical and problem-solving skills and Word processing skills in a Windows environment. Demonstrated ability to analyze CBC records, legal documents, and technical material to make licensure management decisions. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with agency personnel, board members, licensees and the public, including the ability to prepare official case documents and supplemental reports. Demonstrated ability to independently manage and supervise employees, including the ability to establish and evaluate performance goals. Knowledge of FOIA, records retention and licensing systems. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with State and Federal requirements related to Criminal Background Checks. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize workflow. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies and procedures, in accordance with state/federal laws and regulations.
