About the Organization HOGAR is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to serving communities throughout the Bronx through critical social service programs. With a team of approximately 400 employees and a growing finance and accounting department, HOGAR is focused on strengthening its financial infrastructure to support program funding, government contracts, compliance, and operational excellence. Position Overview HOGAR is seeking a Revenue Accountant to prepare billing, reimbursement claims, and financial tracking related to government-funded programs and contracts. This role will play a key part in managing revenue generated through government funding sources, including contracts with agencies such as DHS (Department of Homeless Services), OMH (Office of Mental Health), and HASA (HIV/AIDS Services Administration). The Revenue Accountant will be responsible for submitting expense claims, reconciling invoices, managing receivables from government agencies, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in compliance with government contract requirements. This individual will work closely with Revenue Manager, Finance team, and external agency partners to ensure timely reimbursement and proper management of funding streams from city, state, and federal sources. This role requires someone comfortable working directly with government agencies and navigating complex funding requirements, as HOGAR continues to expand its funding sources across local, state, and federal programs. Key Responsibilities: Government Contract Billing & Reimbursements Prepare and submit expense claims and reimbursement requests related to government contracts, including DHS, OMH, and HASA funding sources. Manage billing and reimbursement processes for city, state, and federal funding programs. Monitor contract-related receivables and ensure timely collections from government agencies. Maintain detailed documentation to support billing submissions and ensure compliance with government requirements. Financial Reconciliation & Reporting Reconcile contract-related invoices and transactions and record activity into the general ledger. Ensure accurate tracking of expenditures and revenue recognition related to government funding streams. Assist with internal reporting related to program funding, contract performance, and revenue tracking. Systems & Data Management Utilize billing and case management systems such as Passport (Accelerator) for contract billing activities. Maintain accurate financial records within accounting and CRM/ERP systems. Support financial data integrity and reporting through the organization’s MIP accounting system. Accounts Receivable Oversight Manage government contract receivables and monitor outstanding balances. Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies with government agencies. Respond to inquiries related to billing, claims, and reimbursement submissions. Accounting & Operational Support Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions when needed. Assist with invoice processing during high-volume periods. Conduct periodic reviews of billing and collection processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract requirements. Partner with internal stakeholders to improve processes as HOGAR expands into additional funding sources at the state and federal level. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 1+ years of experience in nonprofit accounting, government contract billing, revenue accounting, or grants management. Experience working with government funding sources such as DHS, OMH, HASA, or similar agencies strongly preferred. Experience submitting reimbursement claims to city, state, or federal agencies. Familiarity with accounting software systems; MIP experience is a plus. Experience with Passport/Accelerator systems or similar billing platforms preferred. Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple funding streams and maintain organized documentation. Strong Excel and financial reporting skills. Comfortable communicating directly with government agencies and managing compliance-driven billing processes. #J-18808-Ljbffr
