Location: Lake Mary, FL
Flexibility: May work from Atlanta, GA or Houston, TX (remote for now; on‐site required once offices reopen — nonnegotiable )
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Salary: $110,000.00-$135,000.00

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer III to lead instrumentation and controls engineering activities for complex industrial and energy-related projects. This senior-level role is ideal for someone who excels in design documentation, vendor and customer coordination, and mentoring junior engineers while driving technical excellence.

Candidates may currently work remotely from Atlanta or Houston , but once offices reopen, they must report on-site in one of those locations or in Lake Mary, FL .

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer III for assigned projects, owning scope, deliverables, and technical decisions.
• Engineering design, design review, and client controls integration (DCS).
• Perform control system clarifications and support interpretation of control procedures.
• Witness client Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and provide clarification of control system requirements.
• Lead development and review of datasheets, drawings, specifications, and all design documentation.
• Provide guidance, oversight, and training to junior engineers (Level I & II).
• Support commissioning and installation activities; may require occasional site visits.
• Provide on-site installation and commissioning assistance and support as needed.
• Train client staff on control system functionality and operation.
• Manage warranty support for up to one year after project completion.
• Coordinate extensively with vendors, customers, and internal teams—majority of the role involves documentation review and iterative communication.
• Review and interpret customer requirements, industry standards, and technical specifications.
• Support vendor evaluations, bid reviews, and procurement processes.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including AGA standards , flow meter code requirements, and other instrumentation standards.
• Travel limited primarily to vendor locations for customer training support.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 8–10 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering.
• Proven experience in a lead engineering role .
• Strong background in instrumentation design, sizing, and application.
• Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) is a major plus.
• Experience with EPLAN required or strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with flow measurement, flow meter code , and AGA standards .
• Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
• Strong communication skills for interfacing with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Not seeking automation-only or automotive-focused backgrounds.
• International experience (Canada or Brazil) is a nice-to-have.
