Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a critical access setting. This position requires a minimum of one year of experience in a medical-surgical nursing role, with opportunities for first-time travelers welcomed.

Shift and Schedule

• Shifts: 7p-7a or 7a-7p
• Ratios: 1:3 during the day and 1:5 at night
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience required
• Valid RN license (pending licenses accepted)
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience in Med-Surg/Tele and Tele nursing preferred
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams preferred
• Competencies in colostomy care and feeding tube management preferred
• Experience with blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, and IV starts required
• Experience with heparin and insulin management required
• Exposure to total joint replacements required
• Experience with nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks required
• Experience with isolation precautions required
• Proficiency in Epic charting system required
• Child and adolescent competencies required

Responsibilities

The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care, including but not limited to:

• Administering medications and monitoring patient responses
• Performing necessary medical procedures within the scope of practice
• Collaborating with healthcare teams to assess and implement patient care plans
• Educating patients and their families regarding health management
• Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs as required
