Diversion Specialist

Overview The District Attorney's Office seeks a Diversion Specialist responsible for our juvenile offenders in accordance with the Colorado Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) standards. It is an exciting time to be in diversion, as we have increased our capacity and work with community partners to expand opportunities for those in the criminal justice system to take responsibility, support personal growth, and repair harm to the community. We are looking for individuals who want to work with juveniles to better themselves and prevent future unlawful behavior, and help make our community whole. We are considering applications from individuals who would handle a caseload primarily working with youth who commit sexual offenses and are eligible for Diversion. This position may rotate into a regular Juvenile Diversion or Adult Diversion caseload. This is a grant-funded position through the BHS fund in Larimer County. The typical work hours are 8AM - 5PM, Monday through Friday. After a probationary period, telecommuting for one day a week may be available. The District Attorney’s Office follows a blind hiring process. Responsibilities What you'll be doing: Assess individual clients’ needs and risks, identify appropriate treatment, make necessary referrals, adjust plans as needed, and track progress. Perform direct supervision of youth, including home and school visits, and case staffing. Maintain accurate records of client compliance and non-compliance. Communicate with supervising attorneys and victims’ advocates to ensure compliance with the Victims’ Rights Amendment. Serve as a liaison between the District Attorney’s Office and schools, agency partners, and treatment providers. Knowledge of the criminal and juvenile justice systems and the role of diversion. Familiarity with Colorado Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) standards. Understanding of current counseling concepts and techniques. Confidence in presenting to youth, families, and/or adults involved in the criminal justice system. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field required. Two (2) years' experience in the fields of social work, criminal justice, counseling, or similar related field required. Possession of a valid driver's license by date of hire required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
