Loss Prevention Specialist

Primary Purpose of Job

Serves as a frontline ambassador by creating a welcoming environment while promoting the safety and security of ASB teammates and customers. Requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail and interpersonal skills to effectively handle various situations and interactions.


This position is based out of our Campus location. Must be flexible and available to travel to multiple branch locations within the same day, sometimes at short notice. Reliable transportation is required.

Major Job Accountabilities

• Greets and assists customers while ensuring safety and security protocols are followed.
• Maintains a friendly, professional demeanor while monitoring area.
• Observes customer and visitor behavior to identify potential safety or security concerns before they escalate.
• Responds to emergencies, incidents, or suspicious activities in a calm, professional manner.
• Makes decisions quickly and decisively to ensure situations are handled effectively and efficiently.
• Investigates and files incident reports.
• Keeps abreast of current and evolving security threats, best practices, new technology and trends, and any laws and regulations that may impact the Bank's operations.
• May serve as the Bank's liaison with local law enforcement and other outside parties.

Experience Required

• Security guard experience.
• Police officer experience is a plus.

Required Skills or Training

• Strong situational awareness.
• Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
• Excellent customer service attributes.
• Deep working knowledge of security principles, emergency preparedness operations, risk management, and fire and life safety systems.
• Must have some knowledge of the National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) and the Incident Command system (a plus).
• In-depth knowledge of access control systems.
• Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving security-related issues.
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented to handle multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation communication skills.
• Must be flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of information.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft applications.
• Able to work 7 days a week, 24 hours per day based on business need.

Professional Certifications, Licenses, And/or Registration Requirements

• Must hold a valid US driver's license.
• Must have reliable personal transportation.
• Hawaii State Guard Card or ASB sponsored Hawaii State Guard Card.
