Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
More Than Rooming Patients. Be Part of the Team.
Valley Clinics | Primary Location: Albany, Oregon
At Valley Clinics, we believe great healthcare starts with a great team.
We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) who takes pride in their work, cares about patients, pays attention to the details, and understands that a successful clinic depends on everyone working together.
This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. One moment you may be rooming a patient; the next you may be performing an EKG, administering a vaccine, processing a specimen, helping with a refill, or solving a problem that keeps the clinic moving.
If you are looking for a position where you can make a difference every day—not just check boxes—this may be the right fit for you.
Primary Work Location: Albany
This position is based at our Albany office. Because Valley Clinics also operates in Corvallis and Salem, occasional cross-coverage at another location may be needed for vacations, planned absences, or temporary staffing needs.
We value flexibility and team members who are willing to help support another office when needed.
What You'll Do
Take Care of Patients
You are often the first clinical team member a patient interacts with. You will:
Escort and prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
Collect and accurately document patient information and vital signs.
Review charts and gather relevant medical, medication, and historical information.
Recognize abnormal findings or changes in patient condition and promptly communicate them to the practitioner.
Listen to patient concerns and identify when additional attention or resources may be needed.
Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
Use Your Clinical Skills
Under appropriate clinical supervision and within your scope of practice, training, and clinic policies, you may perform:
IM and SubQ injections
Vaccinations
EKGs
Ear irrigation
Point-of-care testing
Specimen collection and processing
Other delegated clinical procedures
Procedures must be performed safely, accurately, and efficiently while following infection-control and clinic protocols.
Be the Person Who Notices
A great CMA doesn't simply complete a task and move on. You notice when a patient's condition changes, a provider is running behind, supplies are low, a specimen needs attention, or the workflow isn't working.
You communicate. You ask questions. You help solve problems.
We value CMAs who think ahead and take ownership of their role in the clinic.
Keep the Clinic Moving
Patient care doesn't stop at the exam room. You will also:
Process prescription refill requests and patient messages.
Assist with orders, clinical documentation, referrals, and care coordination.
Support patient flow and communicate provider delays or wait times appropriately.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Step in to support other team members when clinic needs require it.
Take Pride in Your Clinical Space
A clean, organized, well-stocked clinical area is part of patient care. You will:
Keep examination rooms clean, disinfected, organized, and ready for patients.
Stock and maintain supplies, medications, forms, linens, and equipment.
Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs before they become a problem.
Properly dispose of sharps, biohazardous materials, and other clinical waste.
Help ensure clinical equipment and work areas are ready for the next patient and team member.
The CMA We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
Dependable. You show up, follow through, and can be counted on.
Team-oriented. You are willing to step in and help when the clinic needs support.
Confident enough to speak up. If something doesn't look right, we want you to say something.
Organized. You can manage multiple responsibilities without losing sight of the patient in front of you.
Professional. You communicate respectfully with patients, providers, and coworkers—even on difficult days.
Patient-focused. You remember that behind every appointment, message, procedure, and chart is a person who deserves respect.
Willing to learn. Healthcare changes, and we value people who want to continue improving their skills.
Flexible. You are willing to occasionally support another Valley Clinics location when needed.
What You Bring
Current Medical Assistant certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) .
High school diploma or GED.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
One year of CMA experience preferred.
Ambulatory or primary care experience preferred.
Electronic medical record experience preferred.
Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability and willingness to occasionally provide cross-coverage in Corvallis or Salem.
What We Expect From Every Team Member
Clinical skills are important, but so is how you contribute to the team. We expect our employees to communicate, ask questions, take responsibility for their work, protect patient privacy, follow clinic policies, treat others with respect, and step in when the team needs help.
We don't expect perfection. We do expect people who care.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
In-person position; remote work is not available.
Primary work location is Albany, Oregon .
Occasional travel to Corvallis or Salem may be required.
Daytime schedule within clinic hours, typically 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and sit throughout the workday.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Ability to perform repetitive clinical and computer-related tasks.
Ability to work effectively in a busy healthcare environment.
Compensation
$22.00–$26.00 per hour
Pay is based on certification, experience, clinical skills, qualifications, and overall fit for the position.
Why Valley Clinics?
We are a primary care practice where your work matters.
Our CMAs are an important part of the patient care team—not simply someone who rooms patients and moves on. We value initiative, professionalism, compassion, and a willingness to help.
If you want to come to work knowing you contributed to the care of real patients and the success of your team, we'd like to meet you.
