Staff Accountant

Now Hiring: Staff Accountant – Morgantown, WV Location: Morgantown, WV Job Type: Full-Time Industry: Nonprofit / Accounting & Finance Experience: 2+ Years Preferred Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a respected local nonprofit organization in Morgantown, WV to recruit an experienced Staff Accountant . This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial analysis while contributing to a mission-driven organization making a positive impact in the local community. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of accounting experience , a strong understanding of GAAP , excellent attention to detail, and proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Previous nonprofit accounting experience is a plus, but not required . Staff Accountant Responsibilities Prepare and post general ledger and journal entries . Perform monthly balance sheet and account reconciliations. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. Support preparation of financial statements and internal financial reports. Assist with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions as needed. Maintain accurate and organized accounting records. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis . Review financial transactions for accuracy and proper documentation. Support nonprofit financial reporting and compliance requirements. Help maintain effective financial policies and internal controls. Prepare documentation and schedules for financial audits. Assist auditors and leadership with financial information as requested. Work closely with organizational leadership on accounting and financial matters. Support additional accounting and finance projects as needed. Staff Accountant Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 2+ years of accounting experience preferred. Previous nonprofit accounting experience is a plus, but not required. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) . Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Familiarity with month-end and year-end closing processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software . Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive financial information.
