The Orientation Medication Technician works directly with clients during the admissions process and throughout their time in our residential programs, helping ensure their medications are safely processed, documented, and transferred to the appropriate facilities.This role is an important part of creating a safe and supportive experience for clients entering treatment. You'll work closely with Registered Nurses, clinical teams, medical staff, and recovery support staff to manage medications, communicate medication needs, maintain accurate records, and educate clients on medication policies and procedures.Working under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse, you'll play a critical role in preventing medication errors and diversion while providing compassionate, respectful care to clients who may be navigating a vulnerable transition into recovery.Tired of working 40+ hours per week?! Join our team and enjoy a standardized 36-hour work week!Our Full-Time Benefits Include:36-hour work week to support a healthy work-life balanceFlexible Monday–Friday scheduleRobust paid time off program with enhanced benefits as you grow with us15 paid holidays annually, including your birthday401(k) employer matching up to 5%Opportunity for annual merit increases and bonusesMedical, dental, vision, and life insuranceWhat You'll DoProcess and inventory medications with clients during the admissions process.Prepare and safely transfer client medications to their assigned residential facilities.Coordinate with the FSH Medical Clinic to address urgent medication needs.Fill medication cassettes under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.Update and monitor medication administration records and narcotic administration records.Assist with medication passing as directed and delegated by the Registered Nurse.Process incoming and outgoing medications according to established policies and procedures.Enter prescription and medication information accurately into required systems.Notify clients of needed medication refills and communicate medication needs to the appropriate staff.Communicate medication compliance, concerns, and changes to the client's treatment team.Report medication errors promptly and follow appropriate procedures.Participate in medication destruction in accordance with agency policy.Maintain the master signature log and medication administration supplies.Maintain the security and organization of medications and related records.Ensure protected health information (PHI) is handled and destroyed appropriately.Educate admitting clients on medication policies, procedures, and medication-passing expectations.Communicate medication needs and concerns between clients, nursing staff, clinical teams, and administrative staff.Train and communicate with recovery support staff regarding medication-related procedures.Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation.Meet regularly with the Nursing Services Department Manager.Follow standard precautions, safety protocols, HIPAA requirements, and applicable agency policies.Assist the Registered Nurse and Program Director with administrative tasks and other duties as needed.Required QualificationsActive certification as a Nursing Assistant, Medication Aide, or Pharmacy Technician preferred.Experience with substance use disorder treatment and medication management preferred.What We're Looking ForExceptional attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to listen, provide clear guidance, and interact respectfully with clients.Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, healthcare professionals, recovery support staff, and other members of the treatment team.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Knowledge of relevant healthcare practices and medication management procedures.Ability to maintain professional boundaries when working with clients.Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately and precisely.Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle legally sensitive information.Ability to accurately document client interactions and medication-related information.Ability to learn and use technology, databases, spreadsheets, and other electronic systems.Ability to communicate medication information clearly to clients, staff, and leadership.Commitment to client safety, dignity, and high-quality customer service.Demonstrates an Outward Mindset and commitment to the First Step House mission.For more information about our non-profit organization, you can visit our website at more details on testimonials, simply follow the link below and scroll to the bottom. -opportunities/All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or status as a protected veteran.
