Chief Executive, Adult Education & Workforce Pathways

Job Summary The Superintendent acts as the chief executive and instructional leader of BakerRipley Pathways Academy Adult Charter High School. This position provides strategic guidance and oversight of all school operations, ensuring full compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements while promoting the mission to offer equitable, high-quality adult education and workforce pathways. Job Summary The Superintendent acts as the chief executive and instructional leader of BakerRipley Pathways Academy Adult Charter High School. This position provides strategic guidance and oversight of all school operations, ensuring full compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements while promoting the mission to offer equitable, high-quality adult education and workforce pathways. The Superintendent will ensure that adult learners—many of whom face challenges such as educational disadvantages, disabilities, homelessness, language barriers, or justice involvement—are supported in earning high school diplomas, industry-recognized certifications, and gaining access to sustainable careers or postsecondary education. Responsibilities Instructional & Program Leadership: Define the instructional vision for the district, focusing on adult learners and workforce readiness. Ensure curriculum alignment with TEKS, CTE certification standards, and best practices in adult education. Oversee the development of trauma-informed, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments. Track student achievement outcomes, including diploma completion, persistence, and certification rates. Organizational & Operational Leadership Provide executive oversight of the principal and all members of the instructional leadership team. Lead strategic planning, budget development, and resource allocation. Ensure compliance with TEA regulations, Subchapter G requirements, PEIMS/TSDS reporting, and federal accountability standards. Oversee policies related to staffing, professional development, and performance evaluations. Community & Workforce Engagement Represent the district to the Board of Trustees, TEA, and external stakeholders. Develop and nurture partnerships with workforce boards, employers, higher education institutions, and community organizations. Advocate for adult learners at local, state, and national levels to strengthen the adult education ecosystem. Human Capital & Talent Development Recruit, develop, and retain high-quality school leaders, teachers, and staff. Promote professional growth in adult education, CTE instruction, and student support services. Implement systems to monitor and support teacher and leader effectiveness. Qualifications Education & Certification Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Adult Education, or related field (required). Texas Superintendent Certification (required) or eligibility within one year of hire. Doctorate in Education or related discipline (preferred but not required). Experience At least 7 years of progressive educational leadership experience, with 3+ years at an executive level (Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Chief Academic Officer, or similar). Proven success in leading adult education, alternative schools, or workforce development programs. Track record of improving student outcomes such as high school diploma completion, industry certifications, and career placements. Experience managing budgets, ensuring compliance, and governing with boards. Strong background in developing community partnerships and cross-sector collaborations. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Deep understanding of adult learning theory, CTE certification pathways, and workforce development. Expertise in accountability, compliance, and funding models for charter schools. Ability to motivate staff, build effective teams, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
