ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER - NASHVILLE FLAGSHIP STORE Draper James is seeking an experienced, sales driven Assistant Store Manager for our Nashville Flagship Store. The ideal candidate will have three or more years of progressive retail experience, including at least two years in a leadership position, preferably within a premium, luxury, specialty, or highly service driven environment. OVERVIEW The Assistant Store Manager serves as a trusted partner to the Store Manager and plays an essential role in the leadership and performance of the Nashville Flagship Store. This individual leads with warmth, confidence, and sound judgment while creating an environment where customers feel genuinely welcomed and the team is inspired to deliver exceptional results. The Assistant Store Manager must be fully prepared to lead the store independently in the Store Manager’s absence. LEADERSHIP Create a positive and accountable store culture rooted in grace, charm, teamwork, and genuine hospitality. Lead from the sales floor while remaining present, engaged, and responsive to both customers and the team. Set the standard for customer engagement, personal styling, product knowledge, and confident selling. Provide clear direction, meaningful recognition, thoughtful coaching, and timely feedback. Address customer and team concerns with emotional intelligence, discretion, composure, and sound judgment. DELIVERING RESULTS Achieve and exceed weekly, monthly, and annual sales goals. Drive key performance indicators through active floor leadership, daily coaching, and effective team deployment. Evaluate the business throughout the day and adjust zoning, selling strategies, and team focus to maximize every customer opportunity. Coach the team to build complete, thoughtful looks through styling, fitting room engagement, and natural additional selling. Develop lasting client relationships through proactive outreach, appointment setting, and consistent follow through. Support store events and community partnerships that increase traffic, deepen local relationships, and generate sales. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, scheduling, and developing a high performing team. Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable with fairness and consistency. Deliver meaningful recognition, actionable feedback, and productive coaching. Support the development of supervisors and sales associates while encouraging ownership, reliability, and professional growth. OPERATIONS Maintain full accountability for the store while serving as Manager on Duty. Uphold company policies, promotional guidelines, inventory controls, and loss prevention standards. Ensure promotions and exclusions are communicated accurately and consistently to both customers and the team. Oversee shipment processing, replenishment, stockroom organization, merchandise presentation, and visual execution. Maintain a polished, welcoming, and consistently shoppable store environment. Respond calmly and effectively to operational challenges, customer concerns, and changing business needs. QUALIFICATIONS Three or more years of progressive retail experience, including at least two years in a leadership position. Demonstrated success in driving sales, improving key performance indicators, and developing teams. Proven ability to lead a store independently and make thoughtful business decisions. Strong personal selling skills and a genuine enthusiasm for customer engagement and styling. Exceptional emotional intelligence, communication skills, reliability, and professional judgment. Confident coaching skills with the ability to provide both recognition and constructive feedback. Strong organization, initiative, accountability, and attention to detail. Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and key business periods. An undergraduate degree is welcomed but not required.
