RN Nurse Manager

Burlington Health & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington, Vermont is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Manager to join our team.

The RN Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing daily nursing operations on the assigned unit while providing strong clinical leadership and ensuring residents receive safe, high-quality, person-centered care. This role works closely with nursing staff, physicians, residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team to promote positive resident outcomes and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and facility policies.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide clinical direction to licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants on the assigned unit

• Oversee daily nursing activities in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, professional standards, and facility policies

• Promote a holistic, resident-centered approach to care

• Ensure nursing staff follow established policies, procedures, and standards of practice

• Participate in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers

• Assess residents for changes in condition and promptly notify physicians, families, or representatives as appropriate

• Document resident assessments, changes in condition, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely

• Transcribe and carry out physician orders as directed

• Administer medications and monitor residents for therapeutic response and adverse effects

• Perform and oversee wound care and other skilled nursing treatments

• Coordinate follow-up appointments and transportation needs

• Provide hands-on clinical care, including colostomy care, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, IV administration, and other skilled nursing services as needed

• Conduct regular rounds to ensure resident needs are being met and nursing staff are completing assigned responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation, social services, dietary, activities, and other interdisciplinary team members

• Participate in management meetings regarding census, resident status, care needs, complaints, and operational concerns

• Assist with staff performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions in accordance with facility policies

• Promote effective communication and teamwork among nursing staff

• Help maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license

• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university

• Current CPR certification

• Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred, but not required

• Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred

• Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Ability to prioritize effectively and make sound decisions in a fast-paced healthcare environment
