Duration & Conversion: 9-Month Contract (Evaluating for Full-Time Conversion)
Pay rate 45-51/hr on CTC
Work Schedule: Mon Fri, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM | Hybrid (2 3 days onsite per week; local travel required for both field & internal customer sites)

Position Overview & Role Purpose
This is a mid-level Service Engineering role bridging the gap between R&D, manufacturing, and field deployment. The engineer will create, maintain, and structure technical documentation, workflows, and processes for installing, deploying, and servicing connected medical/IoT hardware at customer data centers. They will provide Tier 2/Tier 3 technical escalation support, update service processes, and facilitate the 5-CI (5-Customer Interactions) deployment lifecycle.

Key Technical Requirements & Must-Haves

Technical Documentation + Engineering Acumen: Heavy focus on writing clear, detailed technical documentation for installation and site deployment. Pure technical writers will not work-the candidate must be hands-on and technically grounded.

OS & Environment Literacy: Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems running within Virtual Machines (VMs) . Familiarity with basic computer management and deployments connecting to customer data centers or Azure Cloud is a major plus.

Networking & Connected Devices (IoT): Understanding of basic networking and IT infrastructure concepts. Products include connected hospital hardware, patient beds, and vital signs monitoring devices communicating with data center networks.

Escalations & Troubleshooting: Solid troubleshooting skills to support service operations and resolve Tier 2/Tier 3 issues.

Ideal Profiles & Target Titles

Target Titles: Service Engineer, Systems Engineer, Field Applications Engineer (FAE), Deployment Engineer, Product Support Engineer.

Backgrounds: Open to Medical Device or Non-Medical / High-Tech backgrounds (Biomedical, Computer Science, IT/Systems).

Not a Fit: Pure Quality Engineers (QE), pure Mechanical Engineers, or pure non-technical Technical Writers.

Experience & Education Guidelines

Experience Range: Mid-level, ideally 3 to 4+ years of experience (1 2 years is too junior; open to senior/15+ years if aligned with the pay rate).

Education: Minimum Associate or Bachelor's Degree (Engineering, Biomedical, Computer Science, or proven equivalent technical track record).

Location Preference: Strongly prefer local candidates near Skaneateles, NY. Open to non-local candidates only if they are willing to relocate immediately at their own expense (role is at an active engineering/manufacturing site requiring in-person collaboration).
