Job Overview: The Sr. MEP Project Manager oversees the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for construction projects, ensuring the timely installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of these systems within budget and schedule. This role involves coordinating with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. With extensive knowledge of MEP systems, building codes, and regulations, the MEP Project Manager leads a team of engineers and subcontractors, manages project risks, resolves technical issues, and ensures successful project delivery. The role demands strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a focus on delivering projects that meet or exceed client expectations. Key Responsibilities: Project Planning and Coordination: Lead the planning and coordination of all MEP systems installation and integration throughout the project lifecycle. Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and contracts to fully understand MEP requirements and project goals. Develop and manage the MEP portion of the project schedule, ensuring the timely completion of all tasks and deliverables. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other construction managers to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems into the overall project design and construction schedule. Oversee the procurement and delivery of materials and equipment for MEP systems, ensuring timely availability. Manage subcontractors to ensure cost-effective and efficient execution of MEP work within the project timeline. Team Leadership and Supervision: Supervise MEP teams, subcontractors, and field staff, providing leadership and guidance to ensure work is completed to high standards and in accordance with project specifications. Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance and support to maintain project momentum and ensure timely completion of MEP systems. Foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring effective communication and coordination between all project stakeholders, including design, construction, and subcontractor teams. Mentor and develop MEP engineers, field staff, and subcontractors, ensuring they have the necessary resources, training, and direction to perform their tasks effectively. Conduct regular team meetings, providing feedback and resolving any conflicts or issues that may arise during project execution. Ensure all team members adhere to project safety standards, quality requirements, and company policies. Budget and Cost Control: Develop, monitor, and control MEP project budgets, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints. Track labor, material, and equipment costs related to the MEP systems, ensuring efficient use of resources. Prepare cost estimates and manage change orders, ensuring that project changes are documented and communicated. Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure MEP systems are installed according to project specifications, codes, and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections of MEP systems and components to verify that all work meets quality standards and is in compliance with safety regulations. Manage testing and commissioning of MEP systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with regulatory standards. Address and resolve any issues with MEP installations, including non-compliance with specifications or delays. Safety Management: Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe work environment for all personnel, maintaining compliance with OSHA standards, local building codes, fire codes, environmental regulations, and company policies. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and toolbox talks to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure adherence to safety guidelines across all MEP activities. Monitor MEP system installations, testing, and commissioning to ensure safe operations, providing guidance and corrective actions where necessary. Ensure all team members, including subcontractors, are trained in safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Investigate any accidents, near-misses, or safety incidents, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain accurate safety records and documentation in compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and company requirements. Foster a culture of safety by encouraging proactive reporting of hazards and ensuring immediate corrective actions are taken. Ensure all MEP work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and policies, contributing to a zero-incident work environment. Stakeholder Communication and Reporting: Serve as the main point of contact for MEP-related issues with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. Prepare and deliver regular project updates and reports to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders, outlining progress, challenges, and risks. Participate in project meetings and provide input on MEP design, scheduling, and implementation. Risk Management and Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and assess risks to MEP system installation, such as schedule delays, budget overruns, and technical challenges, and develop strategies to mitigate them. Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to minimize risks and keep a project on track. Collaborate with the project team to resolve technical issues, address conflicts, and rectify design discrepancies, ensuring timely resolution and alignment with project objectives. Resolve technical and logistical challenges by finding innovative solutions in collaboration with stakeholders, keeping the project moving smoothly. Manage scope changes related to MEP systems, evaluating and integrating them into the project plan with minimal disruption to the timeline or budget. Implement corrective actions for delays or issues, maintaining clear communication with the team and tracking progress on resolutions. Provide troubleshooting and problem-solving support to the MEP team and subcontractors, ensuring solutions comply with industry standards and regulations. Monitor field risks by continuously assessing safety, quality, and environmental concerns, taking proactive action when necessary. Report and manage risks to senior management, recommending risk mitigation plans and alternatives for any project challenges. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
