Electronics EngineerSAIC is seeking an Electronics Engineer for our customer site in North Charleston, SC.Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):Develop a modular, power distribution architecture for distributed maritime sensorsIntegrate voltage-level negotiation for subsystems (similar to that of USB-C PD)Incorporate renewable energy solutions such as wave harnessing, solar, peltier into a system architecture for improved persistencePerform power budget analysis to inform power system and support sensing, communication, and edge processing operations of complex systemsDevelop designs for signal/power PCBs using best practices for trace routing, thermal management, signal isolation, and groundingQualificationsRequired Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience; four (4) years additional in lieu of degreeExperience programming microcontrollers to monitor system status and implement control systems to toggle power amongst sub-systems/components (C++, microPython, circuitPython, standard Python)Development of DC power distribution architecturesIoT experience with low-SWaP sensors and systemsRequired Clearance:No clearance required to start, must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearanceDesired Skills:Knowledge of renewables and integration of various technologies to improve system performanceFamiliarity with marine connectors and knowledge of electrical systems in highly corrosive environmentsExperience developing system-level electrical architecture with minimal oversightKnowledge of standard RF principlesFamiliarity with UART, I2C, RS232, RS485, USB, Ethernet protocols (desired)PCB design for DC power distribution in small, distributed (IoT) systems incorporating power toggling via microcontroller, renewables, and modular designOverviewSAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
