Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Dept.Emergency Room - Memphis, TN 38103OverviewPosition Type Full Time Job Shift Any Travel Percentage None Category Nursing ServicesDescriptionThe Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within assigned areas utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients.What you will doProvides nursing care according to medical regimen and the nursing interventions appropriate for the patients' conditions and according to established standards, policies and procedures including care of the ambulatory practice patient.Completes ongoing assessments according to outpatient and nursing policy and/or as determined by patient condition:Re-prioritizes care based on new information,Continues to update nursing diagnoses, andInvolves family and/or other significant individuals in assessment activities.Assesses, plans and implements care of assigned patients.Documents care based on standards of care and practice and/or clinical priorities for documentation including:Assessment and ongoing assessment findingsUpdated clinical priorities for documentationTherapeutic nursing interventions with special attention to patient educationPatient's response to interventions and progress towards outcomes are notedResponds and/or participates with medical emergencies.Provides teaching to patient/family in the care of disease/condition.Maintains patient medical records; documents patient status and care given; performs charting duties; records activities and observations.Confers and works collaboratively with patient/family/hospital staff regarding all aspects of patient needs in a customer responsive and courteous manner.Provides instruction, assigns and supervises LPN and other support personnel assigned to unit to complete the initial and ongoing assessments of patients and to provide clinical assistance as needed.Transports monitored patients, specimens, equipment and supplies to and from various areas.Completes required continuous training and education.Maintains a clean, orderly, safe environment for patients and personnel.Prepares and maintains required records, reports and files for administrative and compliance purposes.QualificationsGraduate of an approved nursing school/program RequiredBachelor's Degree in Nursing PreferredRN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure to work in state of TN. Upon Hire Required andBCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire RequiredExperience in caring for patients in an inpatient setting. Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the school age, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates.
