Summary

The Secretary of the Senates Senate Security Office is seeking a Multi-Disciplinary Security Officer. An individual selected for the career ladder position will be placed into the Office of the Secretary of the Senate pay band 6 for a period of approximately 12 to 18 months during which time they will be on a training plan and provided opportunities for development and increased successful completion of the development and performance goals the incumbent will be recommended for promotion to a Multi-Disciplinary Security Officer II position in pay band is administrative work supporting the Office of Senate Security (OSS) in the execution of core security functions for the United States Senate. The Multi-Disciplinary Security Officer (MDSO) serves as a generalized security professional providing flexible cross-functional support throughout multiple OSS mission areas including document control personnel security operations access control facilities security analysis and administrative support. Work is bound by Secretary of the Senate policies and procedures the U.S. Senate Handbook and the Senate Ethics Manual but requires independent judgment in setting priorities and handling assignments.

  Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of normal safety precautions to avoid everyday risks and discomforts. Work requires frequent walking standing bending and carrying items up to 25 pounds as well as regular use of typical office equipment software programs and methods of communication such as a computer email telephone and photocopier. Regular predictable and punctual attendance is required for performance of duties. Work also requires physical presence in the office except as otherwise required by the Office of the Secretary.
  

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  Work requires a high school diploma or GED (bachelors degree preferred) with one to three years of experience; and the following knowledge skills and abilities.
  

  Relevant experience supporting security operations administrative programs military operations law enforcement intelligence or government security programs is preferred.
  

  Demonstrated interest in personnel security document control physical security access control security operations or related security disciplines.
  

  Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  

  Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  

  Ability to exercise sound judgment discretion professionalism and flexibility when handling sensitive or classified information.
  

  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  

  Ability to organize and maintain administrative records schedules and operational documentation.
  

  Ability to use tact and diplomacy when interacting with Senate staff external partners and senior government officials.
  

  Ability to learn and apply security policies procedures and operational guidelines.
  

  Experience supporting continuity emergency preparedness military intelligence or security-related programs is desirable.
  

  Basic knowledge of the Senate as an institution is preferred with a desire and willingness to learn more about the legislative process and Senate operations.
  

  Ability to process sort and file forms and records.
  

  LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  United States citizenship.
  

  Ability to obtain a TS//SCI security clearance and RD access.
