Med-Surg Nurse (RN) - Thomasville, NC

Deliver high-quality patient care as a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry on a contract assignment within a respected academic medical center. This well-equipped transitional care unit offers advanced technology, multidisciplinary support, and exposure to a wide variety of medical conditions.


Schedule/Hours:

• Night shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend rotations
• Holiday coverage required for 50% of contract holidays
• Schedules set in 6-week increments
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Active RN license with BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum of 2 years' recent MedSurg experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers not eligible
• Proficiency with trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, wound vac, cardiac rhythm interpretation (assessment checked on shift), central line blood draws
• Comfortable administering non-titrating drips including Heparin, Lasix, Protonix (Cardizem/Amiodarone experience preferred but can be taught onsite)
• Familiarity with EMR (EPIC), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, infections, wounds, and more
• Manage a patient load of approximately 1:5
• Collaborate closely with CNAs, charge nurses, hospitalists, and other support departments (24/7 RT, phlebotomy, residents)
• Float to other units within scope as needed
• Collect labs as required
• Document accurately and efficiently within EPIC
