Lead Investment Data Business Analyst / Data Product Owner (Aladdin & Market Data)

Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Data Business Analyst / Data Product Manager with 10–15+ years of experience to drive modern data architecture and analytics initiatives for a top-tier investment management client. Sitting directly at the intersection of business strategy, investment domain expertise, and cloud data architecture, you will lead requirement gathering, data mapping, and functional design for enterprise data models. You will serve as the primary subject matter expert (SME) on BlackRock Aladdin and market data feeds, partnering with portfolio managers, risk teams, and data engineers to translate complex investment workflows into scalable cloud data structures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Business Analysis & Requirement Gathering: Lead cross-functional discovery with Portfolio Management, Risk, Operations, and Analytics teams. Draft comprehensive Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs), Epics, and User Stories.
• Data Mapping & Functional Modeling: Perform source-to-target data mapping (STM), gap analysis, and logical data modeling for investment datasets (fixed income, equities, derivatives, performance, and risk).
• Aladdin & Market Data Integration: Utilize BlackRock Aladdin (Aladdin Data Cloud, Explore, Security Reference Master) alongside vendor market data platforms (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Morningstar) to define integration rules for enterprise pipelines.
• Agile Product Ownership: Act as the Product Owner on data engineering delivery teams, driving sprint planning, backlog grooming, and technical acceptance for Snowflake data pipeline builds.
• Data Quality & Governance: Document data dictionaries, business glossaries, and data lineage. Establish anomaly detection and data quality validation rules for upstream/downstream flows.
• Downstream Analytics Consulting: Partner with BI/reporting teams to ensure data models accurately support business KPIs, executive dashboards (Power BI/Tableau), and regulatory/governance reporting.

Key Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in Data Business Analysis, Data Product Ownership, or Data Architecture within Investment Banking or Asset Management.
• Aladdin Expertise (Mandatory): Deep, hands-on experience working with the BlackRock Aladdin platform (including Aladdin Data Cloud, Security Configuration Master, or ADAM).
• Market Data Expertise (Mandatory): Extensive background integrating third-party market data feeds (e.g., Bloomberg Data License, Refinitiv/LSEG, Morningstar, FIX/FPML) into enterprise data warehouses.
• Data Mapping & Modeling: Strong expertise in Advanced SQL for data profiling, source-to-target mapping, ERD creation, and defining logical schemas (Star Schema, Kimball) for cloud warehouses like Snowflake.
• Agile Delivery: Proven track record authoring BRDs, FRDs, epics, user stories, and managing backlog in Jira/Confluence.
• Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills—ability to advise non-technical business leaders while effectively communicating technical specs to data engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to cloud platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of quantitative methods (time-series analysis, regression, anomaly detection) for financial data validation.
• Familiarity with BI visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
