About This Role LVT is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the team at our American Fork HQ and Spanish Fork MFG facilities. You will work on core development for AI/ML enabled security solutions including optical pan/tilt cameras, batteries, solar power, electronics packaging, mechanisms, sensors, and payloads. The role requires high ownership and frequent collaboration with other core disciplines. The ideal candidate is practical, hands‑on, and a self‑starter. Responsibilities Execute rapid evaluation of engineering concepts, identify partners in industry, and manage early vendor relationships. Perform trade studies and physics‑based analysis of various engineering problems. Manage internal and external market research and comparisons. Design, implement, and test complex electro‑mechanical systems (including actuators, wiring harnesses, sensor integration). Operate with system ownership in an area of professional autonomy. Demonstrate cross‑functional experience interfacing with electrical, embedded, and manufacturing engineering. Lead design reviews, run analysis, visit vendors, define and execute hardware test plans. Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production. Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed. Travel to test sites as needed. Use first principles physics as a basis for every decision. Qualifications Demonstrated experience developing complex embedded products (consumer electronics, IoT, drones, camera systems, industrial automation, etc.) and a design portfolio. BS or MS in an engineering field, or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of mechanical/design experience in a professional setting. Demonstrated leadership skills in a professional setting. CAD skills (PTC Creo and Windchill preferred) and ability to make high‑quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards. High competence with engineering first principles. Mentorship experience. DFM experience for sheet metal, welding, injection molding preferred.
