Program Coordinator II – Training Specialist Location: Lexington, KY Salary: $44,678 – $71,469 per year Position Type: Staff, Full‑Time (40 hrs/wk) Grade Level: 44 Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; evening and weekend work may be required. Job Summary This 100% grant‑funded position supports the UK College of Social Work Training Resource Center by providing leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of foster parent training initiatives. The Training Specialist will design curricula, deliver training in multiple modalities, promote program services, and support administrative functions related to the grant. Responsibilities Program Development & Curriculum Design Lead the strategic growth and continuous improvement of foster parent training initiatives statewide. Research learning needs, design high‑quality curricula, and develop instructional materials, storyboards, and scripts for in‑person, asynchronous, and live virtual modalities. Identify opportunities for technology‑based platforms, virtual learning, and new delivery methods. Maintain current knowledge of child welfare practices, evidence‑based approaches, and training modalities through conferences, workshops, and research. Collaborate with CoSW staff and external stakeholders to adapt curricula for web‑based delivery and pilot new content with DCBS. Monitor, evaluate, and support continuous quality improvement of program activities and training outcomes. Training Delivery & Quality Assurance Deliver engaging trainings in person, via webinar, and virtual interactive sessions. Apply adult learning principles and interactive teaching strategies to promote participant engagement and knowledge retention. Facilitate classroom dynamics, encourage participation, and adapt instruction to learner needs. Review and improve existing training materials regularly to ensure accuracy and relevance. Collaborate with other Program Coordinators to align training materials with delivery modalities. Program Support & Promotion Assess needs with sponsors, set benchmarks, and develop promotional strategies. Distribute materials and manage social media content with guidance from CoSW Marketing/Communications. Maintain the FASTHelp webpage and administer the Foster/Adoptive Support and Training (FAST) hotline. Promote program services to DCBS staff and partners; represent the program at statewide and community events. Technical Assistance & Support Coordinate technical support for DCBS foster parent events and awards. Approve invoices and oversee the program budget with the Business Office. Coordinate professional development opportunities for independent contractors. Qualifications Master’s degree (MA). At least three (3) years of related experience in child welfare training or program coordination. No required license or registration; physical requirements include repetitive motion typical of desk work, prolonged computer use, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Skills & Knowledge Child welfare practices and foster/adoptive service provision. Instructional design and curriculum development. Research, data analysis, and program evaluation. Copyright regulations, time management, and organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms. Preferred Experience Lived experience as a foster or adoptive parent.
