Contract | Night Shifts | 12-Hour Shifts (0630/1830 start times) | Variable shift scheduling (Nights/Days) may be required throughout the contract | Every-other-weekend rotation | Holidays as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care across a full spectrum of obstetric patients including active labor, inactive labor, antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and couplet care, adhering to established patient ratios (Antepartum 1:3, Inactive Labor 1:2, Active Labor 1:1, Postpartum/Couplet Care 1:3)
• Manage high-acuity labor patients including those with preeclampsia, preterm labor and delivery, and patients less than 35 weeks gestation
• Perform clinical skills including IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, insulin administration, and circulate and recover C-section patients
• Provide postpartum and couplet care throughout the contract, including care for normal newborn nursery patients ( Level I care required; Level II nursery experience strongly preferred )
• Document accurately using EPIC EMR ; utilize Baxter IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• May be expected to precept nursing students and may be placed on low-census call as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the South Dakota Board of Nursing; completion of a board-approved nursing education program required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, preferably at a Level 3 or higher L&D unit (i.e., a facility with a Level 3 or higher NICU)
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Demonstrated competency in high-acuity labor management, couplet care, and normal newborn nursery (Level I) care
• Proficiency with EPIC charting; candidates lacking EPIC experience require manager approval prior to offer

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification
• Certification in inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum care
• Experience with Level 2 nursery (Level II NICU) patients
• Prior experience at a Level 3 or higher Labor and Delivery unit with exposure to complex, high-risk obstetric populations
