Preprocedural Nurse

Position Details Department: PCH-MAIN | Perioperative Admin Services Location: Phoenix Shift: Mon-Fri, (Days Vary), Days, 7am-7:30pm Category: Nursing Posting #: 1015228 Employee Type: Part-Time Position Summary This position conducts all preoperative phone calls with patients and patient families for Surgical/Procedural Cases in all perioperative locations. Position Duties Manages and conducts the operational activities and instructions for all surgical and procedural cases. Initiates contact with our patients and families prior to their procedure or surgery. Comprehensive review of medical history, medications, allergies, and any other pertinent information. Reviews NPO, instructions, time of arrival, surgery/procedure location, preop tests, and reviews visitor policy. Communicates and collaborates with surgery schedulers and preop nurses to address lineup changes and pertinent concerns. Documents any pre-charting in SCM. Communicates any anesthesia concern to appropriate assigned Medical Director. Verifies pre-surgical/procedural testing and clearance. Maintains skill level competencies for current role. Attends clinical skills annual competencies. Completes all LMS modules. Maintains TB/Mask testing and annual fit testing. Fosters a positive learning environment by modeling best practices and patient-centered care while providing guidance, training, and support to students and new employees through mentorship, clinical instruction, and knowledge sharing. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested. Position Qualifications Education: Two year (ADN) degree in nursing, a four year degree (BSN) in nursing, or a Diploma Nursing degree. Experience: Two (2) years recent clinical experience in Perioperative department. Additional Requirements: Current State of Arizona RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges or the ability to establish licensure according to Arizona law prior to start date. Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association.
