Why We Need You PEMCO invites you to join our dynamic Product Development team as an Actuary. In this exciting role, you will be pivotal in driving profitability assessments and process enhancements. Leverage your analytical skills to shape financial strategies and optimize insurance products that respond to market demands. This position is perfect for actuaries looking to advance their expertise in pricing, reserving, and modeling within a collaborative environment. What You'll Be Doing Conduct internal loss reserving to monitor and analyze trends for financial stability and accurate forecasting. Utilize advanced actuarial techniques for comprehensive pricing analysis, improving rate levels and rating variable determinations while streamlining process automation. Develop intricate actuarial models using predictive modeling and statistical analysis to drive insights and decision-making. Collaborate with business partners to inform product decisions and analyze their impacts. Prepare regulatory filings that align with company objectives and ensure compliance. Provide feedback on the company's annual forecast and inform partners of emerging trends and potential risks. Investigate and assess issues and trends in actuarial science proactively. Act as a consultant, applying your advanced skills in mathematics, statistics, and modeling. Support PEMCO's brand authentically while actively seeking talent to help us fulfill our mission to help customers worry less and live more. Fulfill other duties as assigned. What You'll Bring B.A. or B.S. degree in Mathematics or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 5 years' experience in property casualty actuarial work, focusing on rate-making and personal lines. Strong technical aptitude and programming experience. Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) certification. Precision: A detail-oriented mindset with a strong drive for accuracy and thoroughness. Problem Solver: Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues efficiently and collaboratively. MS Office: Proficient in MS Office and an expert in Excel. Job-specific: Strong knowledge in Mathematics, Statistics, and Modeling, with proficiency in software applications and predictive modeling. Job-specific: Proficient in Python, R, SAS, and/or SQL; familiarity with Radar, Emblem, or ResQ is a plus. Highly Analytical: Passion for working with diverse datasets to derive actionable insights; skilled at collaborating to manage and analyze data effectively. Business Environment: A thorough understanding of the insurance industry's landscape and trends, with the ability to identify early indicators of change and adapt strategies accordingly. Compensation Target pay for Greater Seattle area: $154,845-$189,255 (full range: $129,038-$215,063). Target pay for outside Greater Seattle area: $136,654-$167,022 (full range: $113,879-$189,797). Benefits Employer-paid life insurance and disability benefits. Participation in the 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions. Paid vacation accrual starting at 10 days, increasing based on tenure. Four personal days granted upon hire. Paid holidays and sick leave exceeding state requirements. Additional leave for bereavement, jury duty, and volunteering. Additional programs include flexible spending accounts, education assistance, employee assistance programs, and well-being initiatives, among other perks. Compensation may also include bonuses and referral incentives.
