We are looking for a committed Hospice Medical Director to become a vital part of our leadership team. In this essential position, you will provide expert clinical guidance to our hospice physicians, ensuring that patients receive compassionate, goal-oriented care while adhering to the highest medical standards. Your role will involve collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, oversight of regulatory compliance, and leadership in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities- Supervise and ensure the quality of medical services provided by hospice physicians across various locations.
- Certify and recertify hospice eligibility, ensuring compliance with Medicare and other relevant regulations in a timely manner.
- Conduct and oversee face-to-face patient consultations, including home visits for complex cases.
- Lead the recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluation of physicians.
- Coordinate 24/7 on-call coverage with hospice physicians.
- Maintain precise and timely medical documentation to support regulatory reviews.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings to facilitate patient care and medication management.
- Monitor pharmacy utilization to ensure appropriate medication prescribing and administration.
- Collaborate with hospice leadership on policy development, compliance, and quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison to the community, enhancing hospice visibility and partnerships with healthcare providers.
- Support educational initiatives for staff, physicians, and community partners.
- Doctorate in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in a specialty recognized by ABMS or AOA-BOS, preferably in primary care.
- Current and unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
- Valid National Provider Identifier (NPI) and DEA registration for controlled substances.
- Preferred certifications include Hospice and Palliative Medicine board certification and/or Hospice Medical Director Certification Board certification.
- Current Medicare Provider Enrollment (PECOS) and Medicaid certification as required.
- Willingness to travel 15-25% based on program needs.
- CPR and TB clearance are mandatory.
- In-depth understanding of hospice and palliative care principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Leadership and mentorship abilities to motivate interdisciplinary teams and enhance patient care.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and regulatory obligations.
- Compassionate communication and empathy for patients and families facing end-of-life challenges.
- Expertise in navigating healthcare compliance, quality improvement, and ethical considerations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with attending physicians, staff, and community healthcare providers.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- A genuine passion for delivering outstanding palliative care and advocating for hospice patients.
