EVS Associate - Jefferson Cherry Hill (Per Diem, Evening)

Job Details Per Diem position for evening shifts (3-11:30 pm) during weekdays and weekends as needed. Overview The Environmental Services (EVS) Associate aids in maintaining a high‑quality standard of housekeeping. This includes performing cleaning functions in assigned areas while following scheduled methods to provide patients, visitors, and staff with a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment. EVS Associates help prevent cross‑contamination, control bacteria and odor, and sustain acceptable aseptic conditions. They may assist with moves, recycling, delivery of supplies, and removal of trash and biohazard waste. Responsibilities Interacts with co‑workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson values. Establishes and maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in assigned work areas by following departmental policies and procedures (20%). Proper disposal of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA codes and regulations. Handles disposal of environmental contaminants such as batteries, thermometers (mercury), and needles. Keeps biohazard food and loading area safe and free of debris (20%). Maintains equipment, cleans carts, buckets, floor machines, and supply closets to present a professional appearance (20%). Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances (5%). Follows hospital/departmental policy on hand hygiene (5%). Completes and maintains all carpet and hard‑surface flooring in accordance with departmental procedures (10%). Observes safety precautions when pushing equipment and reports faulty mechanical, structural or electrical problems in accordance with safety policy, creating a safe environment (5%). Utilizes wet floor signs to prevent slippage by patients, employees, and visitors in accordance with safety policy (5%). Converse with patients and visitors using scripting to establish dialogue and extend courtesy. Demonstrates high standards of conduct to make Jefferson the choice for patients and employees (5%). Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, recycling, and set‑ups as requested by supervisor and/or staff (5%). Respond to pages or phone calls in a timely fashion. Performs other duties as assigned. Education High School Graduate or equivalent preferred. Experience 6 months to 1 year of experience in housekeeping or cleaning in a healthcare environment preferred but not required. Salary Range $17.00 to $20.84 per hour. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive. Shift Rotating. Worker Sub Type Regular.
