Biomedical Equipment Technician

Job TitleThis role is responsible for maintaining, testing, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of medical equipment to ensure it operates safely and correctly for patients and healthcare staff. The position also involves working with medical teams and equipment vendors, managing inventory and maintenance records, responding to emergency service needs, and occasionally traveling or working flexible hours, including weekends.Schedule: 40-hours per week Location: Javon Bea Hospital—Riverside, Rockford, IL Pay Range: $25.60 - $38.40Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty competently and consistently. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.Services various equipment and apparatus including but not limited to patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related technical paraphernaliaSafety tests medical equipment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazardsConsults with medical or research staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely. Demonstrates proficiency in entering, completing, retrieving information regarding work orders, assets, PM schedules, and other functions and applications of the CMMS database as pertains to daily operation of the departmentModifies or develops instruments or devices. Works collectively with salesperson or service technician or equipment manufacturers or their sales representatives to assure proper operation of equipmentParticipates in managing inventories and operational budget, taking emergency call and helping with special eventsMay be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekendsMay require travel with personal or company vehicleMay be assigned to any Mercyhealth locationsOther duties as assignedEducation And/Or ExperienceMinimum Required:Associate Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or related degree or Military Bio-Medical related certificationIn lieu of a degree, 2-3 years of direct Bio-Medical experience will be considered.Certification/LicensureMinimum Required:Maintain a valid driver's licenseHave and maintain driving record per Mercy's HR-01 Fleet Safety policyPay Range: $25.60 - $38.40Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
