Job Title: Helper / Cleaner

Location: Chesapeake, VA

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on experience

Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Helper / Cleaner to support daily operations in an industrial manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for maintaining clean and organized work areas, assisting skilled trades and production personnel as needed, handling materials, and performing general labor duties throughout the facility. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable of performing hands-on work, and comfortable working around industrial machinery and equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Clean and maintain production areas, shop floors, workstations, equipment areas, and other assigned spaces.
• Sweep, mop, remove debris, and dispose of trash and waste materials in designated areas.
• Assist mechanics, machinists, maintenance personnel, and other skilled employees with general labor tasks as directed.
• Move, organize, load, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain clear and safe walkways and work areas.
• Clean machinery, equipment, parts, and surrounding work areas as required.
• Assist with basic material handling and staging of parts or supplies.
• Use hand tools and cleaning equipment safely and properly.
• Follow all facility safety rules, procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, spills, or other hazards to supervision.
• Perform other general shop, cleaning, and helper duties as assigned based on production needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the assigned shift.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb as required.
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment safely.
• Ability to work around industrial machinery, equipment, noise, dust, grease, and other typical manufacturing conditions.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong attention to workplace safety and cleanliness.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of cleaning, material handling, and general labor tasks.
• Ability to work assigned shifts and overtime as required by production needs.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience in industrial cleaning, manufacturing, construction, shipyard, warehouse, or general labor environments preferred.
• Experience working around machinery or in a production facility is a plus.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed primarily in an industrial and manufacturing environment.
• Employees may be exposed to noise, dust, oils, grease, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
• Must be physically capable of completing repetitive tasks and remaining active for extended periods.
