Role Description- This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role based in Syracuse, NY and Fulton, NY. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, ocular health assessments, contact lens fittings, and management of common ocular conditions. Daily responsibilities include interpreting diagnostic tests, documenting findings in the medical record, and collaborating with ophthalmologists and clinical staff on treatment plans and co-management of surgical cases as appropriate. The role involves educating patients on eye health, vision correction options, preventive care, and follow-up needs. The Optometrist will also contribute to efficient clinic flow, maintain high standards of accuracy and professionalism, and support a positive experience for every patient. Qualifications Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted license (or eligibility for licensure) to practice optometry in the state of New York. Strong clinical skills in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis and management of common ocular diseases. Comfort working with diagnostic technologies such as retinal imaging, visual field testing, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and other standard optometric equipment. Excellent patient communication skills, with the ability to explain clinical findings, treatment options, and preventive care in clear, accessible language. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment with ophthalmologists, technicians, and administrative staff. Strong documentation and electronic health record (EHR) skills, with attention to detail and regulatory compliance. Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards, protecting patient confidentiality, and promoting an inclusive, respectful care environment. Willingness to participate in continuing education and stay current with advances in optometry and eye care practices. Prior experience in a medical optometry or ophthalmology practice is preferred but not required; new graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply.
