POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Vocational Supports, the Job Developer for Individuals with Autism, is responsible for obtaining and retaining supported employment jobs for individuals in the CSAAC program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor degree required. Prefer degree to be in a human services discipline (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Sociology).

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience at a community service organization providing services to individuals with Developmental Disabilities.

Skills: Must possess excellent planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to devise creative solutions to program issues. Strong oral and written communication and collaborative skills needed, with the ability to marshal and coordinate internal (e.g. staff, other programs, etc.) and external resources (e.g. employers, community groups and leaders, etc.), to meet program objectives. Strong organizational skills required, as well as an attention to detail to effectively support applicable department. Must be a self-starter, with the ability to handle multiple projects within prescribed deadlines. Must be able to work independently or as a member of the administrative team. Computer literacy required with a proficiency in standard business software applications (e.g. word processing, e-mail and spreadsheet).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Management:

• Follows-up on job development activities, either including the initial contact or following up on the initial contact as directed by the Director.

• Assists the Director in the development, establishment and maintenance of competitive job sites.

• Assists the Director in ensuring that BMPs are implemented and that individuals receive necessary supports to fully realize their vocational potential.

• Acts as the liaison between Vocational Supports and the residential program. Assure that Coordinators are provided with all relevant information regarding job placements by the Employment Managers.

• Assists the Employment Managers in effectively advocating for their individuals to be successfully matched with competitive employment opportunities.

• Assists and supports individuals who have the interest and ability to engage in self-employment (e.g. grass cutting, selling art work, selling Christmas cards).

• Assists the Director with the administrative aspects of Vocational Supports department (i.e. reports, compilation of data and other administrative duties involved in supported employment) to ensure its smooth operation. Assists with compliance and reporting, budget development and monitoring, and IP and BMP development when needed.

Staff Management and Development:

• Provides leadership, mentoring and motivations to staff to ensure the creation of the optimum environment to support individuals in achieving their employment goals.

• Participates, when requested, in the recruitment process of new job coaches and develop job coaches to provide appropriate supports for the individuals to utilize the environment and achieve employment goals.

• Assists in planning and conducting quarterly staff development sessions

• Adheres to mandatory use of CareMatic system to access, send email and access and report health information, data and incidents for individuals supported in CSAAC program. Adheres to mandatory use of 2interactHRM software for Human Resource and Accounting related duties.

REQUIRED TRAINING/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

• Completion and demonstration of techniques taught in the Credentialed Employment Support Professional (CESP) program.

• Completion and demonstration of techniques taught in the Behavioral Principles and Strategies Training (BPST).

• Successfully complete annual recertification of the BPST.

• Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record free of any moving violations for the past two (2) years.

• Driver license, defensive driver training, must operate own vehicle and CSAAC vehicles as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Employee must be able to effectively complete a non-adverse physical intervention with autistic individuals of varying heights, weights and levels of physical strength according to the guidelines presented in Behavioral Principles and Strategies training.
