Surgery - Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner

Position Overview:
A hospital in Greenville, North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide inpatient locum tenens coverage. This role supports a high-acuity neurosurgery team at a Level I Trauma Center.
Providers are required to arrive the day before their first scheduled shift for orientation.
Coverage Needed:
Day Shift (Inpatient APP):
- Start: June 1, 2026
- Schedule: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
- Duration: Ongoing during recruitment
Night Shift (Inpatient APP):
- Start: September 2026
- Schedule: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
Position Details:
- Inpatient only
- Level I Trauma Center
- Established team of 9 Neurosurgeons and 9 APPs
- 24/7 inpatient support
Responsibilities:
- Perform admissions and discharges
- Conduct neurosurgery consultations
- Provide OR first assist support (optional)
- Participate in patient management and care coordination
- Occasional nighttime discharges (not typical but possible)
Facility Details:
- 974-bed tertiary care hospital
- Accredited by The Joint Commission (JCAHO)
Requirements:
- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Neurosurgery or relevant inpatient experience preferred
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association required)
