American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVICU RN with a PA or Compact license for a 13-week assignment at a Level I trauma teaching hospital.

Details

• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting within a teaching hospital and Trauma Level I facility
• Adult patient population with ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:3
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating required
• No on-call responsibilities
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required in hand
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS; preferred: NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Critical Care Float Pool experience preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with ventilator management and BiPAP/CPAP care
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Experience with post cardiac surgery care, IABP, VAD, and pre/post cardiac catheterization preferred
• Experience with ECMO, TAVR, sheath removal, and Impella preferred
• Valid state license or certification required at time of consideration
• Valid references and certification copies required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for cardiovascular surgical and critical care patients, including those recovering from CABG, valve repair/replacement, and TAVR procedures
• Support patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring such as CVP, Swan-Ganz, and FloTrac/Vigileo
• Administer emergency medications and manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction
• Participate in nurse-driven ECMO protocols where applicable
• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility for local candidate consideration and differential pay rate applies
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration and no additional time off requests will be accepted afterward
• PA fingerprinting and Childline clearance required within 12 months of start, with possible travel needed to complete
• Labs must be completed within 48 hours of signing
• Pass/Fail competency exam required for clinical clearance, with up to three attempts allowed
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
