Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology

Job Title

Interventional Radiology Lab RNs provide comprehensive nursing care to include circulating, patient monitoring, and operating equipment that may be used during interventional radiology, CT, ultrasound, and MRI procedures. Interventional Radiology Lab RNs monitor patients during radiology procedures and demonstrate expertise in reading ECGs, identifying arrhythmias, hemodynamic monitoring, patient positioning, obtaining pressures, and administration of medications per procedure protocol and physician orders. Interventional Radiology Lab RNs staff the three bay Radiology Prep/Recovery area preparing, recovering and educating patients and family members. Interventional Radiology Lab RNs order and manage all supplies used in the area. Two IR Lab RNs are on-call for all off tours including weekends and holidays for any emergent cases. Must be able to wear lead and be in standing positions for extended periods of time.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for 100% compliance with patient safety standards including two patient identifiers and adherence to the "Invasive Procedure Time-out Checklist"
• Collaborate with Physicians of Radiology Service as well as all consulting services and support services
• Administration & Monitoring of Medications
• Cardiac/Telemetry Monitoring is part of this position
• Advanced Vascular Access Care and Maintenance
• (BLS/ACLS) certification is required for this position
• Facilitation of Homecare referrals and recommendations to support ongoing veteran needs
• Demonstrates professional communication and conduct
• Recognizes and supports Suicide Prevention initiatives
