We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to support financial clearance and pre-registration activities for hospital services in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is a Long-term Contract position focused on verifying coverage, interpreting benefits, and helping patients understand their financial obligations before care is delivered. The role works in a fast-paced, high-volume healthcare revenue cycle environment and partners closely with patient access teams, clinical staff, and remote colleagues to ensure accurate and timely account preparation.Responsibilities:• Conduct pre-registration and financial clearance activities by gathering required patient information and entering complete, accurate details into the designated health record system.• Review insurance eligibility for upcoming services, validate active coverage, and document verification results thoroughly for each account.• Analyze payer benefits to determine covered services, authorization needs, policy limits, effective dates, and expected out-of-pocket costs for patients.• Prepare clear cost estimates in advance of treatment and explain financial responsibility information so patients can make informed decisions.• Communicate important care-related and administrative information to patients and families, including required forms, policies, and service expectations.• Identify accounts with insufficient coverage, discuss available assistance options, and connect patients with financial counseling or applicable support programs.• Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to resolve pre-service issues that could delay care, billing, or reimbursement.• Provide guidance to newer team members when needed, sharing knowledge related to payer requirements, front-end revenue cycle workflows, and documentation practices.
