Flight Nurse

Job Summary Under the direction of the Base Medical Supervisor or Manager of Business Operations, the Flight Clinician provides safe, comprehensive care to critically ill or injured patients of all ages in the pre‑hospital setting and during inter‑facility transports. The role includes assessment, treatment, documentation, communication, and continual professional development in a flight and ground transport environment. Responsibilities Perform specialized functions and complex assessments, diagnoses, therapies, and emergency treatment of patients transported by rotor‑wing, fixed‑wing, and/or ground. Document accurate information for assessment, treatment, and stabilization during transport, including billing information. Maintain and facilitate effective communication between management, internal and external customers. Participate in activities that support PR and marketing efforts. Maintain knowledge of flight nursing role through mandatory meetings, chart reviews, equipment reviews, skill labs, clinical rotations, and continuing education related to critical care transport. Complete all annual recurrent competency requirements. Maintain an active RN license and all required certifications. Provide clinical care under the direction of the Medical Director via protocols, procedures, and online guidance. Report clinical matters directly to the Manager of Clinical Services and indirectly to the National Director of Clinical Standards. Qualifications Active RN license in the state of employment. Minimum of 3 years of critical care or emergency experience (5 years preferred). Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNATC, TNCC, ITLS, or PHTLS. NRP preferred. Instructor certifications preferred. Certification as a CFRN within 24 months of hire. Flight or transport experience preferred. Successful completion of PHI Air Medical Group education/orientation program. Effective human‑relations skills for interfacing with all levels of personnel and external customers. Compliance with flight weight restriction and ability to pass a pre‑placement physical exam, including lifting up to 100 pounds. Basic computer skills for e‑mail and electronic charting. Body weight maintained below 235 lbs. Drug screening compliance.
