Environmental Services Tech

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. Complete daily cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas. Demonstrate working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles, safe chemical use, and equipment handling. Adhere to safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines, promoting a culture of safety. Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and cleanliness metrics. Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment as outlined in the Standard Work cart set up. Remove waste and transport it to the appropriate disposal area, identifying proper waste streams (regulated medical, recycle, solid, hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements. Follow infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE). Practice patient privacy requirements (HIPAA). Utilize critical thinking skills. Demonstrate personal accountability. Identify and utilize appropriate resources to resolve problems or concerns. Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements. Operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment. Perform tasks as required by facility needs, such as conference room setup, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains. Mentor new Environmental Services Technician I employees. Collaborate with others as part of the patient care team.
