Job Opportunity Job Title: HVAC Licensed Technician Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. HVAC License. Must have experience with HVAC systems and their functions with minimum supervision. Must be trainable in administrative HVAC/operations roles. Must have valid driver's license; able to walk, bend, stoop, lift up to 80 pounds, climb ladders and work off of aerial lifts without the fear of heights. Contract: 12 months / 40 hours per week with some required after hours' time as needed. Salary Range: Starting at $27.92/Hour Reports to and evaluated by: Director of Maintenance Preferred Licensed HVAC Technician; HVAC Journeyman; HVAC 2nd Year Apprentice or better. Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance, to maintain school buildings and install, maintain, and repair heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems. Heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers work on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) systems that control the temperature and air quality in buildings. Essential Job Functions
Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

- Installation: HVAC technicians install new systems, including ductwork, air handlers, and thermostats, following blueprints and specifications.
- Maintenance: They conduct routine maintenance checks, clean filters and ducts, and refill refrigerants to ensure optimal system performance.
- Repair: When systems malfunction, technicians diagnose issues, replace or repair defective parts, and perform emergency repairs.
- Troubleshooting: They troubleshoot various HVAC problems, from electrical faults to mechanical issues, to identify the root cause of malfunctions.
- Ductwork: HVAC technicians often handle ductwork design, installation, and repair, ensuring proper airflow and efficient operation.
- Electrical Work: They may install or repair electrical components and wiring within HVAC systems, including wiring diagrams and following electrical codes.
- Performs tasks to maintain buildings and grounds in safe and operable condition, such as making minor repairs to property as requested.
- Inspects equipment and facilities, and recommends repair or replacement action to supervisor.
- Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity.
- Ensures that all doors and windows are closed and securely locked prior to leaving.
- Uses equipment, tools and materials required for completion of assigned work.

- Mechanical skills: Familiarity with HVAC components and systems and the ability to disassemble and reassemble complex systems.
- Troubleshooting skills: Identifying problems and determining how to correct them.
- Attention to detail: Ensuring all installations, maintenance, and repairs meet legal standards.
- Physical stamina and strength: Handling heavy equipment and working in cramped or uncomfortable positions.
- Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices, maintenance, methods and procedures in the carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades.
- Knowledge of building code conformance standards for carpentry, plumbing, electricity, electrical installation, and repair.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with others.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
- Ability to describe orally or in writing maintenance or repair problems as needed.
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and resolve electrical or electricity issues.
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used.
- Wears appropriate safety gear.

- HVAC License required to be paid on the Licensed HVAC Scale. Apprentice status will be considered at HVAC Apprentice Scale.
